Will Present -Based Asus Netbook Atom N435 Meego With Support

Although netbooks are not sepopular years ago, but the netbook does not seem to be disappearing from the IT market, especially now when the ASUS support on specific operating systems are now beginning to branch off.
After pemasaranya had increased rapidly until early 2010, suddenly became a little choked up marketing netbook tablet when the industry appeared to take over.  And the impact it actually had a significant decrease for the existence of netbooks on the market.
Just like unto a tablet device is released into the market for 500 USD, or about 4.3 million dollars, then it would probably cause the price of netbooks fall much lower than that.  And even for the price of ASUS Eee PC X101 whose price is quite lower levels of course will reach the most price is so low that there is essentially no longer in existence netbook if it really happened.

According to Digitimes, the mobile personal computer or better known as netbooks are intended for low-end segment will reportedly begin to be marketed in particular by Asus in July 2011.  For Meego-based netbook priced 199 USD or about 1.7 million, while netbooks based on Windows 7 will be priced between 310 (approximately 2.7 million dollars) to 350 USD (around 3 million rupiah).

Of all the models of netbooks are reportedly going to mengasupinya with the Asus CPU support Intel Atom N435 single core with a clock speed of 1.33 GHz.  And related it, this addition to the CPU model will be used by Asus, reportedly will also be adopted by several other manufacturers including Acer, Samsung, Lenovo and others.
But certainly, this device is not the only one who will be prepared by ASUS.  and for now, reportedly is developing an ultra-thin laptops measuring 13 inches with the latest NVIDIA support.  While the industrial sector of the tablet, Asus is also reportedly preparing a replacement from ASUS Eee Pad Transformer with a new generation of SoC supported by Kal El.

What is Alexa and its Use?

Review http://riyan-teknologi.blogspot.com/ on alexa.comWhat is Alexa? Alexa is a web of information that provides rankings for a web, it seems that Alexa is not because that's all very well known and accounted for the web surfer is not only outside like here in America but also became a kind of benchmark for determining the traffic of a website. Then what is meant by Alexa Ranks? Alexa Ranks are given rankings by Alexa web ranking which is derived from the total number of Unique visitors Alexa toolbar.
Hmmm.. so it's kind of the Alexa toolbar huh? If I may say it could be like that anyway, because if you want checking popularity of a web to the web instantly become Alexa 's somewhat complicated to make such a toolbar that makes it easy to check so that we can know directly. In addition, many factors influence in giving the Alexa ranking. If you use the Alexa toolbar and installed on your computer, the toolbar will show the ranking of our website and at our other web browsing and surfing on the internet. Toolbar shows the popularity of the website in question. For now it seems Yahoo! still a site with maximum traffic based on data from Alexa, only then followed by Google.

Many people say if the popularity of Alexa or Alexa term trends are down and we do not have to think too much about the ranking of Alexa! I think the presence of Alexa is still very important in achieving a Page Rank ( PR ) is high because it shows the quality and popularity of websites that we have. In addition Google is also apparently still relied on in giving the Alexa rankings for our website. If that is so important to the Alexa toolbar is, what are its usefulness?

1. Alexa helps by providing information about the quality and popularity of a website.
2. Useful for websites that you have to be accepted in the program make money online.
3. Assist you in knowing the position if there is competition and you could find the volume of traffic from websites that you have.

For now it seems to only 5-10 % of internet users who use the Alexa toolbar, perhaps because of - the individual is the webmaster and already know or realize the impact of this use of the Alexa toolbar. But according to a new calculation algorithm Alexa and certainly complicated, the system provided by the Alexa ranking the more accurate because Alexa also provides a ranking based on other sources too, might mutually cross check with Google, Yahoo, MSN and other influential websites. And many rankings decline experienced by the webmaster ( especially the blog owner ).

If you want a high PR for your website, I think you should pay attention to your Alexa ranking as well. If you need to install the Alexa toolbar from this because it can be obtained free of charge and is compatible with IE and Mozilla Firefox. After that set your browser's homepage to the website you have so that Alexa Ranks you can do better. It could also be included Alexa widget that contains the data traffic and ranking in Alexa so that more frequent visits Alexa bot to crawl to the website you have. Widgets can be found here Alexanya Alexa Widget and you just type in the URL of the website that you have after that can be installed code provided on your website. Hopefully the information I provide can be useful and thanks for listening.

PC Computer Game - Engaging Realism And Imagination

The development of personal computer games from simple multimedia exercises to the current trend that involves very sophisticated graphics, operating system and surround sound system have been very fast and impressive.

The varieties of games that are being marketed online and in the regular outlets account for thousand of varieties. The games range from strategic, real time, role playing, shoot em up, beat em up, third person shooters, racing and simulation to name the most popular.

As video stores are selling a multitude of choices, it is smart that parents use good judgment in the games that children play on their Personal computers. The best way to do this is to check the package information of the game about the age groups that the game is intended for.

This is important as some games contain very violent scenes, sexual themes, the use of tobacco, alcohol and illegal drugs. However, parental settings that are printed on the packaging label make it possible for guardians to password protect parts of the game so that the more adult parts of the games are not being accessed while the child still enjoys a perfectly playable version.

Because of the variety of games being marketed, choices can prove to be a challenge. It is not uncommon for the buyer to choose a game that has been recommended by a friend. However if you want something that is different, it is not enough to pick the game that will be interesting to you personally, or to the person that the personal computer game is intended for. Remember to look also on the Minimum PC requirements.

Another factor that is also to be considered is what the game is for. There are games that offer purely gaming enjoyment while there are those that are educational and informative. Some are especially designed for children, toddlers, teenagers, they come virtually for all age groups and intentions. Some of the best family games combine education with entertainment.

The largest groups of games and the best selling are the mind games. These are basically designed for adults and will take hours of playing.

Adventure games are onee of the oldest variety. The design of these games often includes a number of very beautifully drawn locations. Adventure games, unlike most other game designs, involve lateral thinking. The player travels from place to place in quest of an objective. The player often meets villains or impediments in his search for clues. Another component of adventure gaming is humor.

Another big seller for personal computer games are action heroes. The focus here is in fighting, shooting, beating the opponent up, and jumping across platforms. While this may sound violent, there are action games that are designed for children often coupled with humor and fun.

Simulators are also good sellers. Whether it be driving, sailing, flying and racing, there are simulators that are designed to familiarize the player with the actual handling of the vehicle to simulate the real one. There are even simulators that are being used for professional training.

Sports Games are very popular among the teens and early twenties. Many good personal computer sport games have been designed for realism.

Classic games like chess, backgammon and pool are also featured in many variations. The main task of these games is often to beat the computer that leaves most players very challenged.

Personal computer games today are being developed to capture the players' imagination on its realism. As personal computer games have continually attracted investors and designers, expect that personal computer games will become even better in a few months to come.

Tips for Perfect Prints (For Beginners)

Undeniably, photo prints still remain the most popular way of sharing memories. With the right printer and a handful of simple techniques, your pictures can look as sharp as the lab-processed ones. Read on for some great tips for getting the best prints possible.

Start with a Good Image
The first thing you need to get a good print — a high-quality image. An image that merely looks good onscreen is not enough. Here’s what a good image file would have:

Good Resolution
Resolution refers to the number of pixels in an image {usually stated in dpi (dots per inch) or PPI (pixels per inch).}. The more pixels a photo has, the more clarity and detail it will retain as you increase its dimensions. Resolution can also be expressed by the width and height of the image, and the total number of pixels it contains. For example, an image that is 1500 pixels wide and 2100 pixels high (1500 x 2100) contains 3,150,000 pixels—or almost 3.2 mega pixels.

Most digital cameras offer a variety of resolution settings. It’s a good idea to use a higher-quality setting if you plan on printing large sized pictures. Here are some general guidelines:
Less than 640 x 480 pixels = Wallet-size prints. Good for E-mailing to friends , picture displays on the refrigerator etc.
640 x 480 pixels = 4" x 6" photo prints. These are going to be best for photo albums, General usage including craft projects (scrapbooks, stickers, etc).
1152 x 864 pixels = 5" x 7" photo prints. These are good for framing for home display, screensavers and photo greeting cards
1600 x 1200 pixels = 8" x 10" or larger. Good for framing, screensavers for home or gallery display and photo calendars

Best Format
Even if your image is high resolution, you will still need to save it in the correct file format: TIFF or JPEG. For best printing results, always save your pictures in the TIFF format (example: my_friends.tiff). Although this format results in a slightly larger file size, it will produce the most satisfactory results. The JPEG format (example: my_friends.jpg) is preferable for e-mailing photos as it results in smaller, compressed files—ideal for sending electronically.

Quality Control
Use a good image-editing program to remove dust marks and specks on your photos. The printer will most definitely pick up imperfections even if they're very small. You can also use the sharpening option to more clearly define the edges of objects in your print.
Use a Good Printer and Know How to Use it
Once you are familiar with the features and settings of your printer, you will be able to get the best possible results.

Avoid DPI Dilemmas
Dots per inch (dpi) is a measurement of print resolution that indicates the number of individual dots a device can create on a page per square inch of area. For crisp, colourful, professional-looking prints, you should choose a printer with at least 600 x 600 dpi. Otherwise, your photos may turn out pixilated (objects will appear jagged and speckled).

Printer Drivers
Printer drivers play the role of translators, acting as a medium of communication between your printer and computer. To help fix problems and bring significant performance improvements, it is important to use the most current version available for your printer. Printer manufacturers regularly update drivers, and you can download new versions for free from the company’s website.

Resolution Settings
Refer to your printer’s manual to learn how to change quality settings. Usually, you would want ‘best quality’ resolution for photos; however, for wallet-size prints, ‘normal’ resolution may be enough. Experiment with your printer settings to see which ones give you satisfactory results.

Paper Settings
Paper settings control the amount of ink that is laid down on paper; therefore, using the setting that matches your photo paper is essential to making good prints. When you find a setting that works best for a particular paper type, make note of it so you will be able to get the same results when you use that paper again.

Clean and Clear
Running the ‘clean’ function in your printer every two to three months improves print appearance and prevents problems such as streaking and clogging. You can access ‘properties’ settings to perform maintenance actions such as cleaning the printer nozzles and aligning the print head.
Understand Your Ink and Paper
Your choice of printing supplies, such as paper and ink, can make the difference between a good print and a great one.

Paper and Ink Selection
Using Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) supplies would definitely assure you of the quality but they come with a price.  Nowadays, Canon and HP boast of inks that deliver optimum colour and fade resistance up to 110 years. Non-OEM supplies are definitely cheaper, but its debatable whether they can achieve the same quality.

Drying Time
Before you frame a photo print or add it to a scrapbook, be sure to give it enough time to dry. Most OEM inks and papers are designed to dry within an hour or so, but it is best to allow the print to dry for about 24 hours prior to framing or placing it in a photo album.
If you are printing multiple pictures, remove them from the printer slide as they come out and set them aside. This will eliminate any chances of accidental smearing or running.

Today's Advanced Laptop vs. the Desktop PC

The performance, capabilities and performance of laptop computers have for many years been lagging behind the desktop, but all that is changing.

Today's advanced laptop computers are noted as having equal capabilities as modern desktop PCs, although there is often a noticeable time delay for the top models. Over the past decade, the difference in processing power and performance between laptop computers and desktop PCs has narrowed considerably.

At the beginning of 1995, the difference was around three to six months. Customers today insist that their laptops have similar capabilities and specifications as their desktop and also demand more features and processing power. In other words they want the things that make mobile computing painless and hassle-free. As well as becoming a replacement for a desktop PC the advanced laptop computer should provide the same flexibility in configurations and expandability.

A fully featured laptop uses advanced technologies such as mobile Pentium, PCI, plug and play, lithium-ion batteries, and hot docking to give users the same capabilities as their desktop computers. As users became familiar with their laptops they demanded that their mobile computers have the same functionality as their desktops. Thus began the emergence of ever more faster processors, high resolution wide-screen displays, bigger hard drives and multiple external devices.

The advanced laptop computer of today features capabilities such as instant-on. Instant-on is a feature that allows users to put their laptop into a power-conserving state and later resume working exactly where they left off. Advanced laptop computers focus on size, power, compatibility and performance. Some of the main objectives of advanced laptop manufacturers are power management, performance and compatibility. These manufacturers are fully aware that their customers expect their products to not require frequent recharging. Power consumption must be managed wisely, otherwise the heat generated by the components could affect reliability, functionality and ultimately, customer satisfaction. Their products are also expected to achieve other goals, such as reliability, quality and user convenience.

The keyboard controller of an advanced laptop performs many tasks so that the Pentium CPU can remain focused on compatibility and performance. Some of the tasks performed by the keyboard controller are - keyboard scanning, support for three PS/2 ports, status panel control, battery charging and low-voltage monitoring, communication and tutoring, temperature sensing and thermal feedback control, docking station control and power on/off control.

Because of the highly complex jobs it has to undertake, the keyboard controller of a laptop computer is based on flash memory so that the programming can be altered in the field as well as the EEPROM and system BIOS.

The next decade could well see laptop development overtaking that of the desktop PC.

Rangkul Jurnalis, Telkomsel Hadirkan 'Cellular Updates'

Sebelum bicara tentang bisnis model, sebaiknya developer menganalisis behaviour para gamer.

Bangun Perusahaan Digital sejak Muda

Lalu Shieny Aprilia (24 tahun) – salah satu pendiri Agate Studio.

Juni 2009, Nafi mulai berani memutuskan untuk mendirikan start up sendiri.

Start up yang paling berani nekat mungkin Agate Studio.

April 2009 Agate Studio diresmikan.

Sedangkan Tyovan menyarankan agar tetap menghitung keuntungan.

Toner Cartridges: Should you use Remanufactured or Compatibles?

First a little history....
In 1938, the first invention that would lead to the laser printer and toner cartridge was patented. The process, knows as "electro photography", used a dry printing method, not that different than today's laser printer. It was 1948, however, before the commercial application of electro photography because available.

In 1959, the first automatic reproduction machine, the Xerox 914, which used a dry printing process. In 1978, the fine tuned technology was applied to the computer printing needs of business and private citizens. Physically large and with a large price tag as well, the Xerox 9700 laser printer that used a toner cartridge wasn't affordable by individuals except the wealthy.

Everything changed in 1984 when Hewlett Packard began to market the "LaserJet" printer. This printer came with a replaceable toner cartridge that was not difficult to change, although it could sometimes bit a little messy. The really problematic part was that people who used the LaserJet had stacks of expensive but empty toners stacked in the storage room or wherever they could find to store the toner cartridges.

This problem was quickly resolved by environmentally aware designers by re-manufacturing the laser toner cartridge. This significantly reduced the cost of using laser printers.

What’s happening today?....
Nowadays we have the luxury of having a laser printer on our desk at home if we want that type of printing. The as well as the initial outlay for the printer has become quite affordable and provides a unique, very professional looking print out.

Today, laser printers are manufactured by many companies and the price tag is only slightly more than the common ink printer (though colour laser printers are still quite expensive the gap is getting smaller). The laser toner cartridge costs have been reduced so that it is reasonable to use the laser printer at home as well as at the office. In fact the toners are usually much cheaper when you take into account the larger number of pages you get for the amount you pay (the industry uses the terminology ‘cents per page’ or CPP)

Basically there are 2 types of cartridges, originals and non-originals and there are 2 types of non-originals being compatibles and remanufactured (this goes for inks also as does the information below). Otherwise known as non genuine, after market this is how they work:-

-     Compatibles are actually a brand new cartridge manufactured to work in the same way (without breaking the trademark, copy protection laws) as the same original cartridge with the same machines. The benefit you gain from these is obviously cost savings with at times massive savings up to around 50%. The downside is they are not as environmentally friendly as remanufactured toners and there are the occasional failures and complaints about lower quality (though failure rates for the top companies making these are within industry norms and not significantly higher than those of the original manufacturers themselves)
-     Remanufactured toners however are a little different as they take an empty original (it should have only been used ONCE) and fill it with toner. As long as you buy from a reputable retailer it will have also been checked to determine if parts need to be replaced as well as toner refilled. You also get good cost savings as you do with compatibles but the environment wins out big time as you helping ‘close the loop’ by reusing an empty original. Once again the same applies as above with quality and failures (both negligible in my experience as a retailer in this industry).

NOTE: Its worth making a special note here that disposing of empty toners is a problem worldwide as the plastic they’re made of takes so long to break down and the toxicity of the toner inside. In many countries today there are programs available where you can get rid of your empties without just throwing them in the bin. In fact if you hunt around you’ll probably find a company will pay you for them as they need a constant stream of empties coming through so they can remanufacture them.

Something to keep in mind....
When purchasing a re-manufactured laser toner cartridge, be sure to read the box carefully and ensure you are selecting the right toner cartridge. The first time you purchase a re-manufactured toner cartridge, the box may look entirely different or very plain because these inexpensive toners are often not packaged in fancy, colourful boxes like the name brands. But then they don't cost what the name brand toners do, either.

The bottom line....
If you use a reputable retailer for your home/office supplies they should have a clear policy in place not only about faulty toners but what happens if a cartridge has somehow caused damage to your machine (this would be very unusual by the way). Under these circumstances this policy should give you a full warranty to have the equipment repaired ASAP at no cost to you.

With my clients when they ask what I suggest I always recommend they try a non-original to see for themselves the quality etc. In any case the trick is to be able to make an informed choice with someone you trust so at least if something goes wrong the people you bought from haven’t skipped the country.

Types of Computer Hardware

Computer hardware is a physical part of a computer that executes within the hardware. It is unlike computer software or data that can be frequently changed, modified or erased on a computer. Computer hardware is not frequently changed and so is stored in hardware devices such as read only memory (ROM) where it is not readily changed.

Most computer hardware is embedded and so is not visible to normal users. Below are the different types of hardware’s found in a computer.

 Motherboard: It is the central or primary circuit board making up a complex electronic system such as a computer. A motherboard is also known as a main board, logic board or system board.
 Central processing Unit: A CPU is the main component of a digital computer that interprets instructions and process data in computer programs.
 Random Access Memory: A RAM allows the stored data to be accessed in any order. RAM is considered as the main memory of the computer where the working area is used for displaying and manipulating data.

 Basic Input Output System: BIOS prepares the software programs to load, execute and control the computer.
 Power Supply: Power Supply supplies electrical energy to an output load or group of loads.
 Video Display Controller: It converts the logical representation of visual information into a signal that can be used as input for a display medium.
 Computer Bus: It is used to transfer data or power between computer components inside a computer or between computers.
 CD-ROM drive: It contains data accessible by a computer
 Floppy disk: It is a data storage device

Understanding Laptop Batteries

Types of Laptop Batteries:

Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) Batteries: These were the first rechargeable batteries manufactured for laptops. They were relatively inexpensive, had high output and versatile, because they could be used in a wide variety of products. However, NiCd batteries have now been abandoned by laptop manufacturers with the introduction of more efficient and lighter-weight batteries.

Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) Batteries: NiMH was a big improvement concerning power output, reliability, cost, safety and capacity. The "memory effect" was the only issue with NiMH batteries which require them to be fully discharged before recharging to gain maximum output. These batteries can still be found in older model laptops.

Lithium Ion (LiON): This type of batteries has become the most popular for laptops since the “memory effect” has been eliminated, and much lighter than the other two in weight. However, the market price is also the highest.
Battery Cycle:
One battery cycle is used every time a battery is charged or discharged. Technically speaking, it is defined as the number of cycles a battery can perform before its nominal capacity falls below 80% of its initial rated capacity. Lifetimes of 500 to 1200 cycles are typical. For example, NiCad battery has a cycle life of 500-1000 or more cycles.

Battery Run-Time:
Battery run-time depends on a number of factors. Most of the time, it is the design of, and the power demands made by the machine that determines the actual battery run-time. For example, use of the screen, the hard drive and other accessories will significantly influence the duration of the run-time.

What are Smart and Dumb Laptop Batteries:
Some laptop batteries are equipped with internal microprocessor circuits that help manage battery energy, set the charger to the correct charge algorithm, predict running time, or according to Smart Battery System (SBS) forum, provide a state-of-charge (SoC) indication. These batteries are called “Smart” batteries. Those batteries termed as, “dumb” do not have these features, may be just counterparts, or may function to provide power only.

Optimizing Laptop Batteries:
1. “Condition” is a term for fully charging and discharging a new laptop battery to maximize performance and allow it to reach its maximum rated capacity. NiMH and NiCd batteries need to be conditioned at least once a month to reduce the “memory effect”.
2. Metal connecters should be cleaned occasionally to maintain good conductivity
3. Ensure that device's power management features in the BIOS and Operating System are optimized, turning off the screen, using speed step
4. Avoid leaving your laptop on overnight all the time while charging. The laptop should be turned off occasionally.
5. Store the battery in a cool, dry, clean place if you’re not going to use it for a month or longer.
6. Turn down the brightness of the LCD screen when watching a movie on our laptop. Decrypt DVD movies and store it on your hard disk drive to avoid constant use of the DVD drive which consumes a lot of power
7. Never expose your laptop battery to heat, moisture, short-circuit, drop or physically abuse it.

Understanding Your Computer - Basic Terminology

Have you ever wondered what the names are of the devices connected to, and in, your computer? There are many people out there who have never owned a computer or who have a computer but do not know what the proper terms are for the things that come with it. This article explains what those names are and provides a little bit of information about how they function.

Generally, all computers come with a few basic devices. These usually include a Monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer, and the computer (also known as the tower or case).

Monitor – The monitor is the device that looks similar to a TV. There are many types of monitors but the most common is a 17 inch CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitor. A CRT monitor is very similar to your standard TV. There is a new type of monitor that is becoming very popular, it’s called an LCD monitor. An LCD monitor is quite a bit smaller and the quality is somewhat better.

Keyboard – The keyboard is one of the most basic input devices. This is the device that has all the numbers, letters, and symbols that you use to type words on the computer.

Mouse – This is the other most basic input device. It is a small mouse-like device connected to your computer that lets you move the pointer around the screen and click on icons.

Computer – This is the device that houses the “Guts” of your computer. Inside is where all of the magic happens. Generally, inside a computer case you will find a hard drive, system board, RAM, network card, and all the other devices that let you do all of the fun things that computers nowadays let you do.

Printer – This is the device that lets you turn what you see on your computer, into hard copies on paper. There are many types of printers, such as: ink jet, laser, and dot matrix. Some printers also come with built in scanners (to digitize paper documents), fax machines, and photocopiers.

This is just some basic information that has, hopefully, helped you better understand your computer. You may think that most people should already know this but you might be surprised at how many do not.

USB Extension Options: Breaking the 16 foot barrier

For the past ten years USB and FireWire have struggled to dominate the desktop interface market. Until five years ago, because of the relatively fast 400 Mbps offered by FireWire, USB, jokingly referred to as Ultra Slow Bandwidth, was relegated to low-bandwidth applications such as keyboards and mice. At the end of 2001, however, USB dealt a fatal blow to FireWire with the release of the new USB 2.0 standard offering a maximum speed of 480 Mbps, faster than the theoretical limit of FireWire (though, in practice, usually slower).

It seems that USB has essentially won the standards battle with FireWire because of its relative low-cost and high availability. The limitation of USB (both the 1.1 and 2.0 standards popular today) is the 16 foot limit. When you have more than 16 feet between your computer and your USB device you will see significant degradation in the signal that can cause problems ranging from slower transmission speeds to an entirely dropped connection. This causes problems for people who want to run a USB cable to a printer located in another room, to a presentation keyboard/mouse combo or any other USB device that may be in a remote location.

The cheapest (and arguably easiest) way to extend the distance to your USB device is by using a USB Active Extension Cable. These cables have built-in USB repeaters that actually boost the USB signal, allowing you to go further than the 16 foot maximum distance. The most common length for these cables is 16 feet and you can chain up to four of these together with no loss in signal. Assuming you are using the longest USB device cable available (also 16 feet), USB Active Extension Cables allow for a maximum distance of 80 feet between your computer and USB device. They are available in USB 1.1 (12 Mbps) and USB 2.0 (480 Mbps).

For most USB extensions 80 feet is long enough, but what if you need to go further? Super USB Extenders allow you to extend the distance to your USB devices up to 150 feet with no loss in signal. The Super USB Extender uses similar technology for the male and female interfaces, but rather than have a regular USB cable in the middle, it uses a Cat 5 cable (also known as a networking cable). The advantage of Super USB Extenders, other than the increased maximum distance, is the ability to create a custom length. If you need to go 63 feet, for example, you can simply use a Super USB Extender with a 63 foot Cat 5 Cable between the booster and receiver. Super USB Extenders are also available in USB 1.1 and 2.0 interfaces.

If you are looking for a connection beyond 150 feet, many manufacturers offer a special Super USB Extender capable of USB transfer with no signal loss at 330 feet, though this is limited to USB 1.1. Black Box has created a USB 1.1 extender capable of transmission up to 1000 feet without signal loss, perfect for connecting your computer to a security camera or webcam hundreds of feet away from your computer.

Another exciting innovation for USB extension technology is the pending release of Wireless USB. Wireless USB hubs and devices are anticipated to show up in early 2006 with maximum distances over 100 feet. Keep in mind that this is the first release and as the technology matures this distance limitation will inevitably be lifted in favor of much further distances.

Upgrading a Notebook

Desktops have been long known to be upgrade-able in terms of memory and hard drive space but little is known about upgrading notebooks.

The first thing to consider is the notebook itself. It must have expansion slots for extra sticks of RAM if you wish to upgrade memory. This can also be done by replacing the current stick of RAM but this method is not cost effective.

To upgrade a notebook the bottom cover must be removed. When doing this any warranty the notebook has will become void so if you choose to upgrade your notebook, you must be prepared to forfeit the warranty.

Upgrading RAM on a notebook is no different to upgrading RAM on a desktop. If your notebook has additional RAM slots you simply need to purchase some more RAM and install it in the empty slots. If your notebook doesn’t have expansion slots you will need to replace the existing stick of RAM. If you had a 256mb stick of RAM, you would replace it with a 1GB or 512mb stick.

Replacing the hard drive is a lot easier but complicated at the same time. Replacing the actual drive is quite simple. You simply disconnect the existing drive and replace with the new one. The complicated part is recovering all your drivers and so forth from the drive. Without your drivers the hardware in your notebook will not function correctly. It is important to make sure you have all the original driver CD’s that came with the notebook.

In the case of data files you have on your notebook, you can simply back up to DVD’s and CD’s, but if you do not have a burner, you can simply buy an external case for a notebook drive and use that to store your files.

Upgrading a notebook, although not as easy as with a desktop, can still be done.

Upgrading the Sound on your Home Computer

Computers these days are becoming more than just an avenue to surf the web and do word processing.  They are becoming multimedia stations that allow us to watch movies and listen to the latest music.  Especially with new solutions such as renting DVD’s online and pay per download music downloading programs.  This is why having good sound on your computer is important for the best possible multimedia experience.

There are two ways you can increase the quality of sound coming from your computer.  I will discuss both.

The first would be to upgrade, or get a new, sound card for your computer.  The quality of the sound signal being sent from your computer is determined by the sound card.  Also the amount of channels that are being sent, and the number of connectivity options you have.  This is why having a good quality sound card is important.  There are several cards on the market that can deliver a great listening experience.

The second way to enhance your sound quality would be to get a quality set of speakers.  There are an infinite number of options you have in this regards.  You can get a standard 2 speaker system, a 2.1 speaker system (2 speakers and a subwoofer), a 4.1 system and the ultimated 5.1 system.  The most enhancing system would be the 5.1 system.

The 5.1 system consists of 5 speakers and a subwoofer.  The subwoofer will deliver the bass and the low frequency sounds.  The other speakers would be positioned strategically around the room to give the best array of sounds.

Computers today are not the simple machines they were years ago.  They have the capabilities to be a lot more.  With this in mind utilizing these capabilities will be very cost effective.  Now you do not need to buy a stereo system and a television.  A computer can fulfill both these duties.

Useful Tips for Buying Used Computers

In this modern era, high tech devices that are very expensive like the computers can be replaced with cheaper ones. Such cheap computers mostly come in the form of used computers.  Used computers can be found in abundance in the used computer warehouses in various places, even in the local area of the prospective buyer’s residence.  However there is no guarantee of quality when buying a used computer.  The buyer has to take his own personal risk in doing so.  But, if the buyer is ready to spend some money in upgrading the level of the used computer and also some time checking the quality of the used computer before purchase, it will save him from loss.  Used computers can save a lot of money for the buyer when compared to buying a new computer.  There are many who cannot afford to buy a new computer like the students who do not have any source of income but definitely require computers. For such people, used computers come as a boon.

Also, used computers need not always be second hand computers. They can also be recertified or refurbished computers.  Refurbished or recertified computers are those, which are checked for any faults, if any corrected and sold with a warranty ensuring the working condition of the computer to be perfect.  Hence, such computers are considered to be the safest form of buying a used computer.  Refurbished computers can be bought from many of the online stores at very less prices.  Quality computer manufacturers also sell such kind of recertified or refurbished computers.  However, certain measures need to be taken while buying such kind of computers.

The prime aspect to be considered while purchasing a used or refurbished computer is to look for a good branded one.  There are various companies who sell used computers or refurbished computers.   The main reasons for opting for a branded one is that it comes with a warranty and also the buyer can be sure that the parts used are of good quality.

While buying used or refurbished computers related software documents, licenses and paperwork have to be got from the seller as this will avoid stolen computers being passed off as used computers to the buyer.  If possible working for some time on the used computer will determine its efficiency.  Most of the reputed dealers would allow the purchaser to use the computer for a shorter period to check the quality before purchase.

While checking for the efficiency of the used computer, it is good to check if the booting process is smooth, as most of the problems occur during booting and also to check all the sound drivers, video, graphics, monitor, mouse, keyboard etc.  CD drives and hard disks also need to be checked.  Another aspect is the support system offered for the used computer whether technical or non-technical, support staff capabilities and the number of support staff which determine the quality of service offered.  If the purchaser is not satisfied, he can very well think of another choice.

Vacationing with a Laptop and a Digital Camera

Everyone loves digital cameras and the ease of operating without film, but storing all the images can be an issue.  At home I like to store them on my laptop and back them up to CDs.

If you are going on vacation for a week and plan on taking lots of pictures, you should know how many images you can you store on your laptop.

Most consumer shoot in compressed JPEG mode, and the images are between 250k bytes and perhaps 1.4M bytes.  A 1 GB CF will hold as many as a thousand or more images.  If you are like me it is easy these days to shoot a lot of pictures in a very short time.  You could buy another CF or transfer the images to your laptop.

Laptops do not hold all that much data.  How many gigs of disk capacity do you have left on your personal laptop?  The newer ones will come with 40 or even 100 GB drives, but most people don't have ones that new, and many also have a bunch of stuff loaded already. So, check out the size of your HD and see how much space is left for your photos.  If your laptop has a CD burner bring extra blank CDs so you can burn the photos.  A great little back tool is http://www.secondcopy.com.  You could also back them up to your ISPs server.

Another option might be to buy a portable hard drive.  You can find them the size of good-sized glasses case.  You stick your CF in a slot, turn the gadget on, and dump the CF into the gadget's storage. These range from 20GB to 60GB+ and are $100+.

Stand-alone burners can burn CDs & DVDs, and some will also play DVD movies, audio CDs, etc as well so you can bring your movies and music along while traveling.

If you have a new laptop it might have a fast firewire connection, if not you will need to use the USB connection to transfer the photos.

So, taking a few precautions and planning ahead a little will insure that you get to keep all the photos that you took as a reminder of that wonderful, long ago vacation.

Want To Buy an Inkjet Cartridge? Read This for Tips

Since computers—PCs, laptops and notebooks--have now pervaded the entire ambit of our lives, maintaining all its attachments has also become very important. A printer is one of the most useful attachments as it is constantly utilized by the computer users. However, buying inkjet cartridges for your printer can be a daunting task. You really have to know how to choose the best inkjet cartridge so that you are not confused by the various choices.

Some people get stressed when the ink in their printer cartridge show signs of getting over but there is no need to fret over such issues. When you go to the market to buy an ink cartridge you should not get lured by low priced products or by any bargain deals which promise a lot of savings. In all probability such low-priced cartridges would be faulty and would harm your printer. You will spend much more in repair costs than what you would save.

The first step in selecting the best inkjet cartridge is to check the existing cartridge in your printer and then try to buy a cartridge of similar specifications. If you are unable to get the same type of cartridge in the market you should take the help of the following tips:

•    The ink of generic cartridges can be harmful to your printer’s nozzles. So you should avoid using such cartridges.

•    If you need the best quality of printing you should use the ink cartridges made by the same manufacturer as the printer. No doubt, these will be most expensive.

•    The warranties of some printer manufacturers are not valid if ink cartridges made by a different manufacturer are used.

•    It is advisable to check the page yield of the cartridge that you plan to buy.

The precautions needed to increase the life of the cartridge are: the cartridge should never be allowed to dry up fully as this will damage the printer to the extent that it will not be able to print even with a new cartridge, if one cartridge is out the other one should not be run to avoid damage to the jets and the cartridge should be shaken from side to side to utilize the balance amount of ink.

Now the question is from where can you buy the inkjet cartridges?

Buying online is the best place as it is time saving and less expensive. If you do not have the time to keep running to the store, spending time in buying and then returning back, you can save time by ordering online and the cartridge will be delivered to your home or office.

Moreover, if you buy at a store, the ink cartridge will be much more expensive than if you order online as the online vendors offer substantial discounts. Almost any type of ink cartridge can be bought online and that too at a discount.

If you buy refilled or recycled ink cartridges either from a store or from a website, you might save some money but the damage to your printer will prove costlier to repair. As such you should buy only genuine brands and that, too, from a supplier or website that gives a guarantee.

You might be able to save about sixty percent of the cost of an original ink cartridge if you buy a recycled or refilled cartridge but if you need good quality printing it is best to stick to the same company that made the printer that you are using.

If you follow the above tips, you will be able to choose the best cartridge from among the plethora of cartridges available in the market.

What Are The Features Of Samsung Hdtv?

The advent of the computer has changed the way engineers develop the television. The quality of the picture and sound on today’s televisions has far surpassed the standard of a mere decade ago. The new Samsung HDTV line and their features are a testament to that.

Starting with the LN-s4692d, this TV has a 46-inch screen and an option called the dynamic contrast which enables the owner to adjust the screen's back light based on the quality of light in the room.

Another option is the "S-PVA" feature which allows you to watch the screen easily no matter how you are angled in front of the TV.

Although all TV’s aspire to reach 100 percent of the color array of the National Television System Committee Standard, at 92 percent, the LN-s4692d surpasses most of the televisions in the market today which are usually around 73 percent. In this way, you are able to enjoy a highly detailed and realistic picture.

HPs5033 is another television under the new line of Samsung HDTVs. This plasma TV has a feature called the Gen-5 that addresses the issue of the glare on a screen when in a room with bright lights. With Gen-5 you can get a clear picture not matter how bright the lighting is in the room. And the HPs5033 is able to display more than five hundred and forty nine billion colors so you get a very detailed picture.

There is also an improvement to the design that should be pointed out. Unlike other TV’s where you have to move the whole thing to get to the A/V input the HPs5033 A/V input is on the side of the TV so you can disconnect and connect without the hassle.

Finally, the sound quality on this model is increased with the addition of the SRS Trusound XT. With this feature, no matter where you are in the room you get the same level of sound.

The TX-s27794 could be designed for consumers who are concerned about space. This compact 27-inch screen TV can fit many small or awkward positions in a home. And its size doesn’t take away from the sound and picture quality at all. In fact the TX-s27794 comes with the SRS HDTV system installed. This ensures you the level of sound anyone with a plasma TV has come to expect.

These are only a few of the models in the new HDTV line from Samsung. There are more to see and no doubt in the future Samsung will have a variety of models with new additions and features that will top what it has managed to do today.
