4 Universitas Indonesia Masuk 20 Besar ASEAN

VIVAnews - Sistem pemeringkatan Perguruan Tinggi (PT) Webometrics memperbarui daftar pemeringkatan PT terpopuler di Internet secara global pada tahun 2011. Dari Indonesia, tidak ada satu universitas pun yang bisa menembus peringkat 100 besar, bahkan peringkat 500 besar sekalipun.

Tetapi, ada empat universitas lokal yang mampu bertengger setidaknya dalam daftar 20 universitas terbaik di wilayah ASEAN alias Asia Tenggara. Terdiri dari tiga PTN dan satu PTS, mereka adalah Universitas Indonesia (UI), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), dan Universitas Gunadarma.

Sayang, tidak ada wakil Indonesia dalam peringkat 10 besar ASEAN. Di peringkat pertama ada National University of Singapore. Menyusul di bawahnya secara berurutan hingga posisi kelima adalah Kasetsart University (Thailand), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, dan Universiti Sains Malaysia.

UI adalah wakil terbaik dari Merah Putih dan hanya berada di peringkat ke-12, disusul ITB ke-16, UGM ke-18, dan Universitas Gunadarma ke-19. Setidaknya empat wakil tersebut berada dalam daftar 1000 universitas terpopuler skala dunia.

Sekadar diketahui, Webometrics melakukan pemeringkatan terhadap lebih dari 20 ribu perguruan tinggi di dunia. Hanya 149 PT di Indonesia yang masuk pemeringkatan oleh lembaga yang berbasis di Spanyol ini. Atau, ada penambahan 6 PT dari Indonesia dibandingkan edisi Januari.

Hasil pemeringkatan dipublikasikan setiap semester yaitu pada setiap bulan Januari dan Juli. Untuk edisi terbaru ini ada sedikit perubahan metodologi pemeringkatan dibandingkan edisi sebelumnya. Pemeringkatan didasarkan pada empat parameter yaitu Visibility, Size, Rich Files, dan Scholar.

Pada edisi sebelumnya, Visibility diukur dengan jumlah tautan eksternal yang unik yang menuju ke website perguruan tinggi yang bersangkutan. Jumlah tautan tersebut diukur dengan Yahoo Site Explorer. Sementara Size adalah jumlah webpage pada sebuah website PT yang terindeks oleh Google, Yahoo Site Explorer, dan Bing.

Rich Files merupakan jumlah file yang ada di website PT dengan format dokumennya mencakup word, PPT, PDF, dan postscript. Sedangkan, Scholar merupakan jumlah artikel yang terindeks di Google Scholar. (eh)

Ramadan, Akses ke Facebook Digratiskan

VIVAnews - Menurut data CheckFacebook per 26 Juli 2011, pengguna Facebook asal Indonesia telah mencapai 39.193.980 pengguna, atau mencapai 5,5 persen dari total pengguna situs jejaring sosial itu di seluruh dunia.

Untuk memfasilitasi jutaan pengguna situs jejaring sosial terpopuler tersebut, Axis, salah satu operator seluler GSM di Tanah Air, selama Ramadan hingga dua bulan sesudahnya atau 31 Oktober 2011, membolehkan pengguna mengakses Facebook tanpa biaya akses data.

Menurut Syakieb Sungkar, Direktur Sales Axis di Jakarta, 1 Agustus 2011, penawaran tersebut diharapkan akan disambut gembira oleh para penggila Facebook yang menggunakan layanan operator tersebut. “Apalagi saat ini hampir semua orang memiliki akun Facebook untuk terhubung dengan rekan maupun keluarganya,” kata Syakieb.

Untuk dapat menikmati layanan tersebut, pengguna perlu men-download aplikasi yang dibuat oleh Facebook. Agar aplikasi bisa diinstalasikan, syaratnya adalah ponsel yang bersangkutan sudah mendukung Java. Secara total, ada lebih dari 2.500 model ponsel yang didukung layanan ini.

Aplikasi baru yang diklaim sangat ringan ini baru saja diperkenalkan oleh Facebook untuk memungkinkan pengguna mengakses situsnya dengan lebih mudah melalui ponsel. Selain ringan, aplikasi ini juga terbilang lengkap karena memiliki hampir semua fitur favorit yang ada dalam Facebook, seperti update status, kirim pesan, balas komentar, hingga melihat foto.

“Aplikasi gratis ini memberikan akses ke fitur-fitur menarik melalui ponsel pengguna tanpa perlu khawatir harus membayar biaya akses data,” sebut Syakieb.

Selain download dari situs WAP, alternatif lain untuk men-download aplikasi Facebook itu adalah dengan mengetik *123*6#. Adapun tarif yang akan dikenakan adalah Rp1 per download aplikasi.
